A 45-minute drive from my hometown of Kenosha, Milwaukee has been called a city of festivals, with several every month in the summer. One of its largest (and one of my favorites) is Summerfest.
Summerfest is a multi-day music festival, but it’s a bit different than other big names like Chicago’s Lollapalooza. Where some festivals feature a narrow range of A-list performers and charge exorbitant prices, Summerfest books a huge variety of acts and offers reasonable general admission ticket prices and lots of promos for free entry. I was able to see an 80s new wave group (A Flock of Seagulls), a current pop star (Charli XCX), and a few songs by a rock band still chugging along (The Black Crowes), all on the same day and all for free. (Food there is definitely not free, but it is often fried.)
I’m now back in the United States, but I still have more things to share about my time in Europe, so I will continue to write newsletters about my adventures. Assuming I can find the time when not eating cheese curds.
